/>

“Health care is a critical issue for all Americans, and, regardless of the politics, high quality health care will continue to be dependent on the people who choose to enter these challenging fields,” said Nagula.

“I have been blessed to be able to practice medicine in Camden County, and the creation of this scholarship is one way I can give back to the people of Camden County, and help ensure a steady stream of highly motivated, compassionate and caring professionals entering the fields of medicine, science and general health care,” he continued.

The Health & Medical Futures Scholarship, funded through The Nagula Foundation, consists of up to four annual $2,500 grants to a graduate of Camden County High School who is actively pursuing a degree in a pre-medical, health or science curriculum at an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university, who would be financially challenged in pursuing that degree, and who meets other requirements set forth in the scholarship application. The total scholarship amount per recipient is $10,000.

The scholarship application and selection process will be coordinated with the Camden County High School Guidance Department. The application package is available on the

To renew their Scholarship, recipients are required to maintain a 3.00 grade point average (on a 4.00 scale); remain on a degree/certificate path in pre-medical, health or science at an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university; and, submit an annual report describing classes taken and why, progress toward their degree or certification, medical/science/health-related activities in which the student participated, and growth of their personal understanding of current problems in their chosen medical, science or health-related field.

<span

Read his latest article here.

What exactly is Pain Management?
By Dr. Diva Nagula, Double Board Certified Physician | Camden County’s Pain Management Expert

Pain management is a relatively new sub-specialty. Over the last decade, there has been tremendous development in understanding the cause and nature of pain. The scope of pain is slowly being unraveled by pain specialists. Pain management is not just prescribing pain medicines. It is a multi-faceted discipline that utilizes expertise from various fields of traditional and non-traditional medicine.

Physicians involved with treating pain are usually physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists, anesthesiologists, neurologists and psychiatrists. These doctors work in close association with primary care physicians, osteopaths, orthopedic specialists, neurosurgeons, physical therapists, psychiatrists, counselors, and chiropractors, to alleviate pain and associated emotional components like fear, anxiety, depression, and hostility.

Any pain state, acute or chronic, if left untreated, can affect family life in various ways. Family members and close friends label many pain sufferers as complainers. This may then lead to reduced libido, divorce, social isolation, and a feeling of hopelessness. Frequent days off work and eventual unemployment are not uncommon. Retired and elderly persons often complain about social isolation.

For more information about the latest techniques and cutting-edge treatments in pain management, call Dr. Nagula today at (912) 673-7074.

For a printer friendly version, <a
